Typical symptoms are related to inflammatory condition and include redness of pudendal lips, their oedema, moreover, itching and burning in the region of vestibule of the vagina, increased discharge may occur of varying colour as well as of unpleasant smell. However, in the course of e.g. viral infections, these symptoms do not occur. (i.e. there is no unpleasant smell nor discharge), however, pain on urination occurs – dysuric symptoms and pain during sexual intercourse i.e. dyspareunia. Staining occur less frequently. Typically, symptoms of herpes character occur.
Inflammation is a result of antibiotic therapy of general infections e.g. respiratory system, which causes the reduction of naturally occurring bacterial flora and replacing it by pathogen microorganisms, resistant to certain antibiotic. Such disturbance of bacterial balance in the vagina between „good” bacteria of Lactobacillus genus and „bad” bacteria may occur also in other situations: using contraception, disturbances (i.e. diabetes), but also natural hormonal changes (including especially the perimenopausal period and pregnancy), frequent baths in swimming pools (especially jacuzzi), travel (water of different bacterial flora), sexually-transmitted diseases (frequent changes of partners, sexual adventures) or uncertain partner, casual sex), using public toilets, poor hygiene and irrigations.
It is possible to significantly reduce the risk of inflammation or eliminate it by applying rules of intimate hygiene (gels for intimate hygiene of appropriate pH, using specially selected hygienic pads or wipes for intimate hygiene e.g. upon long journey), carrying for healthy and balanced diet (low calories, containing dietary fiber, fruit, vegetables, vitamins and microelements) and supporting the weakened natural bacterial flora of the vagina by e.g. antibiotic therapy by using oral gynaecological probiotic. Such probiotic containing bacterial strains helps maintain normal vaginal microflora, and therefore proper pH, which is one of the main element responsible for decrease of pH.
The term discharge means every increased vaginal secretion of various consistence, most often of unpleasant smell and varying colour, depending on type of infection. Discharge upon bacterial infections (Bacterial Vaginosis) is rather scarce, grey and whitish and homogenous, they have characteristic fish smell. Infection with trichomonas (Trichomonas Vaginalis) is characterised by presence of abundant, foamy secretion of grey or yellow and greenish colour. In mycotic infections, abundant, dense, cheesy secretion of color and consistence of sour milk. Viral infections e.g. with human papilloma virus (HPV) are characterised by cauliflower-like outgrowths on vulva, vaginal walls and cervix.
There are not.
It should be used orally, one capsule daily for at least 20 days. prOVag should be used supportively in order to supplement normal bacterial flora of urogenital system every day and maintaining proper pH of the vagina. It may be used supportively in order to restore normal bacterial flora of urogenital tract and restore proper pH of the vagina after elimination of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. prOVag may be also used supportively during and after antibiotic therapy. It is also advised:
It may be started during it. It is often recommended as an adjunct to antibacterial and antimycotic therapy.
Using prOVag has nothing to do with having sex, its use will also not interfere with becoming pregnant
Yes, but it should be remembered the contrary to intravaginal products, prOVag action starts after some time. Therefore, intravaginal probiotic should be used immediately, whereas prOVag may be used for longer time. Also, effects of action of this product will be longer than those of intravaginal probiotic, because probiotic bacteria used orally will migrate to the vagina from so-called intestinal reservoir.
Differently from locally applied products, i.e. intravaginally, prOVag use is not limited by the period of menstruation, i.e. it may and should be used even during menstruation.
It results from the site of occurrence of lactic acid bacteria – they are found mainly in the vagina, in 1 ml of vaginal secretion, there are from 10 to 5 to 10 to 6 – thus, it acts inside the vagina, but the phenomenon of colonization of the vagina with the bacteria from gastrointestinal tract must occur so these bacteria can get there.
prOVag does not cause such an effect. It may occur during use of intravaginal drugs, but it should be differentiated from staining related to inflammation proceeding in genital tract.
No. It absolutely does not disturb everyday life.
It has no influence on the course of the visit, therefore there are no contraindications.
