Consequences of infections
Complications of infections may be divided into gynaecological and obstetrical.
GYNECOLOGICAL:
- Post-surgical infections
- Dysplastic lesions of the cervix (including malignant conditions)
- Purulent mucositis of the cervix
- Infertility originating in uterine tube
- Inflammation of organs of smaller pelvis
- Increased susceptibility to sexually-transmitted diseases
- Recurrent infections of lower urinary tract
OBSTETRICAL:
- Infection of fetal membranes
- Infection of amniotic fluid
- Premature break of fetal membranes and premature delivery
- Low weight of a child at birth
- Postpartum endometritis
- Perineal abscess
